Woman Insists on Naming Her Newborn an Unconventional Name She Made-up, Family Showdown Begins When They Call Her Selfish: ‘You’re setting her up for a hard life’
Welcome back ladies and gentlemen of the internet. Baby names are interesting; in the US, we're so used to our idea of freedom being the ability to name our children whatever we want, even made-up words that aren't even names. In other countries however, there are actually regulations on baby names, rightfully so. The parent must think they're so unique and creative, but they don't realize the life they're setting up for their child. Imagine when the child grows up and wants to apply for a job, and all the other candidates have normal names, and the manager gets an application with a name like, 'Stesvtikin.' They will probably assume the person is either faking, clownish, or that their parents are utter weirdos and hippies. It just doesn't look good, and it doesn't look professional. This brings us to the Reddit thread.
The original poster (OP) is a woman who wants to name her baby a unique name she made up. She combined two Greek words together to form her child's name. When I first read the name, it looked like a prescription for a medicine with many side effects. Is that the connotation this woman wants her child to have forever?
